Felix Hernandez: King among Latino Best MLB Players
What Felix Hernandez and Neftali Feliz have in common ?
Last season they breakthrough between the biggest stars ever from Latin America.
They can now have a cup of coffee with hall of famer Juan Marichal and listen from his own words that both of them are part of the Latinos’ best-hurlers MLB fraternity.
Hernandez, known by his Seattle Mariners’ followers as “King Felix” , led all Major League Baseball in ERA and innings pitched and was second in strikeouts. Numbers that deserve him his first career Cy Young award.
On the other hand, Feliz, 22, racked up 40 saves while going 4-3 with a 2.73 ERA for the American League Champion Texas Rangers.
Hernandez with his accolade joined the group of greats Mike Cuellar, Fernando Valenzuela, Guillermo Hernandez, Bartolo Colon, Pedro Martinez and Johan Santana as Cy Young all-time winners.
Feliz can seat now very comfortable to talk beisbol with “El Toro” Valenzuela as the only Latinos to ever win a Rookie of the Year award in the majors.
For the 2011 upcoming season the expectations for both hurlers are high however, are they among the greatest Latino pitchers ever?
2010 is almost gone and it is a good time to recognize the very best Latino players for the span of 2000-2010.
Felix Hernandez, “El Rey de Venezuela”, is on the list..
My way of thinking on these lists is to take them for fun but if taken seriously it is appropiate to say they were the very best between 2000-2010. They prove a high quality picture of performance and consistency and overall pure excellence.
